McDonald's reported mixed quarterly results Tuesday as its reorganization weighed on its profit and boycotts hurt its Middle Eastern sales. McDonald's reported U.S. same-store sales growth of 2.5%, missing expectations of 2.6%. A month into the second quarter, McDonald's U.S. same-store sales are roughly flat, executives said. McDonald's said the segment's same-store sales fell 0.2%, marking the first time since the pandemic that one of the chain's divisions reported a same-store sales decline. McDonald's international operated markets segment, which includes Germany and the United Kingdom, reported same-store sales growth of 2.7%.

McDonald's will roll out the Kerwin Frost Box, a collab with New York-based artist Kerwin Frost, on December 11. But the star of the limited-time collab are the McNugget Buddies, an assortment of anthropomorphic McNuggets that haven't been a part of McDonald's mascot rotation in decades. The McNugget Buddies were first introduced in a 1988 Happy Meal, according to McDonald's. They made appearances in McDonald's Canada comics in the early 1993, were available as Sports Buddies in the UK, Japan and Singapore in 1992 and were last seen in 1996 for McNugget Buddies Halloween. The six new McNugget Buddies are based on Frost's experiences growing up in New York City, including one that is designed to look like him.

McDonald’s confirmed Monday that it is collaborating with Crocs for one of its rare ventures into the footwear industry. The collaboration features shoes, socks and “Jibbitz” (the little charms that go inside the holes of Crocs) of McDonald’s advertising characters, as well as its red and yellow branding. Though not a partnership, Crocs also made shoes for the Wild West, with Croc cowboy boots on sale for $120. Ronald McDonald, Grimace, and The Professor notice the vessel and Ronald McDonald knocks on it. He then proceeds to "trade" weird alien-looking objects, like a colorful lamp and a duck hat, for Ronald McDonald's skateboard and Grimace's headphones. But, smart-thinking Ronald McDonald uses his McMagnet to pull CosMc back, and the group decides to eat lunch together. In 1988, CosMc appears in another commercial, where CosMc takes Ronald McDonald on a tour through outer space. CosMc shows him a "fly-through" McDonald's restaurant that CosMc seems to have opened up on the moon.

Since the debut of the Grimace shake earlier this month, TikTok users have been excitedly ordering the shake, released in honor of McDonald’s character Grimace’s “birthday,” and then pretending to die on camera after consuming the purple beverage. They often dump the shake over their convulsing bodies, apparently signaling that Grimace, that bumbling bestie of Ronald McDonald, killed them. The Grimace shake, though, has become more infamous than beloved. In a typical “Grimace Shake” TikTok, an enthusiastic young person, Grimace shake in hand, will wish the big purple mascot a happy birthday before taking their first sip. When reached for comment, McDonald’s referred CNN to a tweet from Grimace: “meee pretending i don’t see the grimace shake trendd,” along with a photo of the purple one himself, eyebrows raised.

Elon Musk often tweets out old memes and enjoys trolling people. And as one user pointed out its founder is "a notorious shitposter," Musk said it was "a good sign." If you've had a look at Elon Musk's tweets, you'll know that he's a big fan of posting fairly dated, and sometimes conspiratorial, memes. "Only fitting that Twitter's first acquisition in the Elon era is a company run by a notorious shitposter," Austen Allred, a tech founder, tweeted Tuesday night in reference to Laskie's founder, Chris Bakke. "I regard that as a good sign :)," Musk replied at around 1.a.m PT.
People are spending big money to snap up limited-edition toys from McDonald's adult Happy Meals. One eBay account is selling some sealed toys for $49.95 each, or $119.95 for a pack of all four. One eBay account is charging $24.95 each for sealed Grimace and Cactus Buddy toys and $49.95 for Hamburglar and Birdie toys, or $119.95 for a pack of all four. Another account selling the toys individually and in four-packs for slightly cheaper has sold 116 lots. The McDonald's and Cactus Plant collaboration has proved incredibly popular.
McDonald's recently-released adult Happy Meal was designed to engender feelings of "nostalgia" among its older customers. Opportunistic resellers are taking advantage of McDonald's limited-time collaboration with streetwear company Cactus Plant Flea Market to try to make a quick buck. Another seller is asking for $25,000 for an unopened Happy Meal toy, and asks that the winning bidder also cover the $6.10 in shipping fees. In New York City, the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box retailed for $12.95. The fast food giant has brought back its collectible Halloween Happy Meal pails for the first time since 2016.
From October 3, McDonald's will be selling limited-edition Happy Meals for grown-ups. The boxes are designed by Cactus Plant Flea Market, and merch will also be available. For the Happy Meals currently available, McDonald's charges more for ones that come with hamburgers than those with nuggets. McDonald's x Cactus Plant Flea MarketThe Happy Meals are a collaboration with streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market, which McDonald's called "one of the most important brands in culture." Cactus Plant Flea Market currently appears to only have four products available on its website – a $70 T-shirt, a $75 towel, a $35 water bottle, and a $60 pair of boxers.
